QUINCY, Ill.---The Quincy University women's lacrosse team hosted Missouri Western on Sunday (April 24) and fell 14-11 on Sunday afternoon.
Missouri Western scored the first three goals of the game but with 7:09 left in the first,
Bianca Johnson got the Hawks on the board. Johnson scored another goal with 23 seconds left in the first quarter, and then scored her third goal of the day in the opening stages of the second quarter to cut the deficit to 7-3.
Quincy then had back-to-back goals from their leading scorer this season, Daniel Robinson after she executed on the man-up opportunity on a free position shot to make it 8-4, and less than a minute later scored again to pull the Hawks within three goals at 8-5 with 9:53 left in the second quarter. Josie Szmanda tallied another goal with 8:41 left in the second to make the deficit 9-6, but Missouri Western scored the final three goals of the period and had a 12-6 halftime lead.
Patrica Chavira scored to open up the third quarter to make it 12-7, but the Missouri Western scored consecutive free position goals to control a 14-7 lead, before
Kara Wilhelm and
Danielle Robinson each scored in the closing stages of the third quarter as QU trailed 14-9 headed into the fourth.
Quincy scored two goals in the fourth quarter, both of which came from Johnson to cap off her five goal performance.
