Quincy, Ill.—The Women's Lacrosse team hosted the Maryville Saints in a nonconference match Wednesday evening (3/16) at QU Stadium and fell by the score of 14-9.
The Hawks struck first just 5 minutes into the match on a goal by
Patricia Chavira on the assist by
Josephina Szmanda. About 3 minutes later, the Saints would tie the match at 1. As the 1
st quarter progressed,
Abby Stein and Chavira score 40 seconds apart to give the Hawks the 3-1 lead.
Maryville scored 3 unanswered goals to take the lead at 4-3. Quincy would answer with 3 goals of their own by Szmanda,
Danielle Robinson and
Sarah Conroy to give the Hawks the 6-4 lead at the break.
The Saints would outscore the Hawks 6-1 in the 3
rd frame. Quincy's lone goal was by
Bianca Johnson at the 4:27 mark of the quarter. Julia Banfield and Reagan Rukstad score 4 of Maryville's goals in the quarter.
Johnson made it 11-8 in favor the Saints just 3 minutes into the quarter. Maryville's lead would get as large as 6 goals late in the frame. With just over a minute left, Robinson scored the final goal of the stanza.
