The Quincy University men's basketball team fell to Lewis University 83-73 in a GLVC matchup at the Neil Carey Arena on Saturday (February 5) afternoon.
The Hawks took an early lead, a three-pointer from Paul Zilinskas with 19:14 remaining in the first half making the score 3-2. Zilinskas would later regain the lead, sinking a layup with 18:21 remaining to make the score 5-4. QU was able to build a more stable lead afterwards, culminating in a Silas Crisler three-pointer making the lead 34-21. Nate Shockey ended the half offensively with a layup, with the Hawks heading into halftime with a comfortable 43-32 lead.
QU's first points in the second half came with 18:51 remaining, with Charles Callier sinking two free throws and making the score 45-34. The Hawks spent the majority of the second half keeping that lead, but unfortunately, once they lost it to LU, they were unable to get it back, leading to a final score of 83-73 Flyers.
Charles Callier led the Hawks with 15 points in 35 minutes of play. Jalen Stamps scored 13 points in 23 minutes, Adam Moore scored 12 points in 15 minutes, Paul Zilinskas scored 11 points with a team-high 7 rebounds in 37 minutes, and Nate Shockey scored 10 points in 24 minutes.
