Hawks Come Up Short In First Game

St. Paul, MN - The Quincy University women's lacrosse team took the road to play their first game of the season against Concordia University-St. Paul, Friday (Feb. 18). The Hawks came up short and lost 20-5.

Quincy scored their first goal of the game at the 5:10 minutes mark, behind a bullet to the net by Danielle Robinson. The Hawks trailed 7-1 heading to the second period. 

Patricia Chavira started the second period early for the Hawks, as she fired Quincy's second goal of the game and first goal of the period, assisted by Josephina Szmanda, (7-2). With only 3:06 minutes on the clock, Chavira managed to squeeze her second goal of the game and third for Quincy, who still trailed, 11-3.

In the second half, Quincy was able to score twice with Bianca Johnson scoring her first goal of the game in the third period, 16-4. The Hawks pushed in their last goal of the game, with a canyon that got to the net for her second goal of the game. Quincy's efforts were not enough and lost the match 20-5.

Quincy's goalie Kelly McCure, ended the game with 10 saves.

The Hawks will be facing Northern Michigan University next on Sunday (Feb. 20) at 12:00 PM EST.
