SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Needing a win to secure the first Great Lakes Valley Conference regular season title in program history, the Hawks were on the road at Drury University. QU took care of the task at hand by sweeping the Panthers (25-13, 27-25, 25-21).
They will be the top seed in the GLVC tournament next week in East Peoria, IL.
Set 1
The opening set started out with a bang as Makayla Knoblauch registered an ace. The Hawks jumped out to a 6-2 lead behind kills from Mattison Norris, Emily Rehagen and Emma Wijnbergen. Alice Pavan had back-to-back-to-back kills to make it 10-6 QU. A 13-2 run by the Hawks saw them take a commanding 23-9 lead in the opening set. They would take the set by the score of 25-13.
Pavan and Wijnbergen registered 4 kills apiece to lead the offense as neither registered an error. The Hawks only registered two errors as a team in the set.
Set 2
The middle set started with runs by both teams. The Hawks jumped out to a 5-2 lead, but the Panthers responded with a 9-2 run to take the 11-7 lead. QU took advantage of consecutive Panther errors to go on a 7-0 run of their own to go up 20-18. Extra volleyball was required in this set, as the Hawks scored the last three points to win 27-25.
The Hawks hit .256 as Emily Rehagen led the team with 5 kills and a .300 hitting percentage. Pavan had 3 kills on 6 attempts and no errors once more.
Set 3
The 3
rd set was tightly contested as Norris tied it at 5 in the early going. Kills by Pavan and Rehagen helped to fuel a Hawk run to make it 10-6. Late in the set, Rehagen had a string of three kills to give the Hawks a 20-18 lead. Norris and Rehagen ended the set and the match on kills.
QU hit an impressive .441 with 18 kills to take the set by the score of 25-21. Rehagen led the way with 6 kills.

Libero America Galvan registered her 1000
th career dig in the first set and now sits with 1,018.
Makayla Knoblauch jumped over 1,000 assists for the season for the 2
nd time in her career.
