Men's Basketball Opens Road Swing with Win

PITTSBURG, Kan. – Opening up the Pittsburg State Thanksgiving Classic against the host school, the Hawks won by the score of 82-58 over the Gorillas behind a 20-point effort from Paul Zilinskas.

QU jumped out to a 13-7 lead at the first media timeout after Zilinskas hit a three off an assist from Isaiah Foster. An 8-0 run by the Hawks saw the lead grow to 26-17 at the midway point of the opening half. The Gorillas got to within a possession with 5:36 left thanks to a 9-2 run. The Hawks responded with a 7-0 run of their own over the next 90 seconds to extend the lead back out. The lead would end up being 11 at the break.

After 10 minutes of action in the 2nd half, the QU lead would grow to a 22-point margin. Consecutive baskets by Malik Hardmon helped the lead continue to grow. As the Hawks gained the comfortable margin, the bench was able to gain some minutes to finish the game.

Overall, the Hawks held the Gorillas to 39% from the field and 25% from behind the arc. On the other hand, the Hawks shot 45% from the field and 43% from 3-point territory.
