ASHLAND, OH. - The Quincy University football team played their first road game of the fall 2021 season on Saturday afternoon (Sept. 25) against Ashland University. The Hawks were unable to slow the Eagles' offense as they fell 63-23.
Ashland's offense scored on nine of its eleven drives in the game. The two possessions that did not end in a score for the home team was an interception as time expired in the first half and a kneel down to end the game.
Quincy's offense put up 358 yards of total offense led by
Tionne Harris. Harris threw for 212 yards, two touchdowns, and added 70 rushing yards with a rushing score.
Eugene Witherspoon increased his touchdown total to eight on the season as he finished the day with three catches for 95 yards and a score.
Angel Ruiz also hauled in his first touchdown reception as a Hawk in the contest.
Peyten Chappel led the defense in tackles with nine, and
Byron Puryear had six tackles, two tackles for loss, and two sacks.

The Hawks will look to regroup for Homecoming weekend when Missouri S&T comes to QU Stadium next Saturday (Oct. 2). Kickoff is set for 1:00 PM.
