KANSAS CITY, MO – The Quincy University softball team ended its weekend series in Kansas City on Sunday with a doubleheader at Loyola Park. Quincy lost 2-1 in game one and 5-4 in game two. All four games this weekend were decided by one run with four walk offs. 

Game 1

Rockhurst took a 1-0 lead in the fourth via a home run to center field. QU tied the game when Casey Brennan tripled to score MJ Maguire in the sixth. Rockhurst hit a walkoff home run in the seventh to seal the game. 

Quincy was limited to four hits during the game but did not commit an error. 

Mac Kenzie Collier tossed 6.2 innings and allowed just two solo home runs while suffering the loss. Collier struck out four hitters and recorded 11 flyouts on 110 pitches. 

Game 2 

Bailey Mitchell singled through the right side to score Ashely Gerber which gave QU a 1-0 lead in the first. Later in the inning, Jayle Jennings grounded out to score Taylor Downen and Quincy led 2-0. Courtney Kernich capped off the scoring in the opening frame of the game with a single to score Mitchell, and QU led 3-0 after the first half inning. 

Ashley Gerber then hit a home run to left field in the second, and Quincy controlled at 4-0 lead in the second inning. Rockhurst climbed back in the game with two RBI singles in the fifth and QU's lead was cut to 4-3.  

Bailee Highbarger went out in the seventh to attempt the complete game victory, but Rockhurst used a home run and a walk off RBI double to win the game.
