DAVENPORT, IA. – The QU women's lacrosse team traveled north to play NAIA opponent Saint Ambrose University on Wednesday afternoon (March 17). The Hawks fell 12-8 after falling behind in the middle of the first half.
Danielle Robinson started the game's scoring when she scored less than two minutes into the contest. The Fighting Bees scored and tied it up shortly after, but Robinson netted another goal for the Hawks with 25:26 left in the first half of play.
Bianca Johnson scored her first goal of the game at the 21:50 mark to make it 3-2, but St. Ambrose pulled ahead over the next thirteen and a half minutes. SAU scored five unanswered goals to move ahead 7-3.
Sarah Conroy netted QU's last goal of the first half to make the score 7-4 at halftime.
Saint Ambrose kept the pressure on in the second half as they scored the first four of five goals in the second period. This put the Hawks in an 11-5 hole with under ten minutes to play. QU tried to get back in it by outscoring SAU 3-1 the rest of the game, but QU dropped the non-conference matchup 12-8.
Quincy will play again this Saturday night at QU Stadium against Alabama Huntsville with the matchup set to start at 7:30 p.m.
