SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Hawks faced the top ranked team in Division II on Thursday night. Quincy was outscored 24-6 in the second quarter as Drury stayed undefeated with a 95-52 win.
Play by Play
1st Half
The Hawks played basket-for-basket with the Panthers in the first six minutes. Quincy answered Drury's first four made shots which led to a 9-8 score.
Maddie Spagnola was able to give QU the lead after her 3-pointer made the score 13-11 with 5:19 to play.
After a pair of free throws by Drury,
Ella Gobald converted a lay up attempt to put the Hawks back in front 15-13.
Drury broke out in the last four minutes. They ended the 1st quarter on a 15-0 run to bring a 28-15 lead into the second quarter.
The momentum of the 15-point swing carried into the second quarter. Drury held the Hawks to only six points in the quarter and extended their lead to 52-21 at halftime.
2nd Half
Five different Hawks scored in quarter number three.
Aleksandra Petrovic and
Lexi Doyle got involved with baskets, and
Michaela Gronewold had six points in the third.
The Panthers remained in control with a 72-35 lead going into the fourth.
In the fourth quarter, Petrovic and
Kennedy Prince each had a pair of buckets. Quincy could gain much distance as the Panthers got their 20th win of the season 95-52.
