SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - A road test for the Quincy men's basketball team pitted the Hawks against the Drury Panthers Thursday night (Jan. 31). The Panthers bested the Hawks by a final score of 86-59.
Play by Play
1st Half
The Hawks scored on their opening possession of the game on a layup by junior forward
Aziz Fadika.
Following Fadika's basket, the Panthers outscored the Hawks 9-0 to take a 9-2 lead four minutes into the game.
Ryan Briscoe ended the 9-0 run with a three-pointer to bring the Hawks within four.
Both offenses fell stagnant for the next several minutes, as Drury held a 14-7 lead over QU.
A pair of three-point baskets gave the Panthers a 20-7 lead with 10:14 to play in the first half.
Shooting guard,
Jah-Kobe Womack, drained a three of his own to bring the deficit to 10 at the midway point of the half.
Drury extended its lead to 15 with 7:15 remaining after a layup by Andrew Ballock.
Despite the Hawks best attempts to bring the deficit to single digits, a consistent offensive attack for Drury sent the Panthers into the halftime break leading by 13.
2nd Half
The Hawks were slow out of the gates in the second half, as the Panthers extended their lead to 20 with 16:33 to play in the game.
Quincy was unable to recover after its slow start as the Panthers' lead was too much to overcome.
Drury made nine three-pointers in the second half en route to a 86-59 win.
Garrison Conley led all scorers with 27 points on 11-18 shooting.
Jah-Kobe Womack led the Hawks with 14 points.
