QUINCY, IL. - The Quincy University women's volleyball team defeated Maryville in straight sets on Friday night (September 28). The Hawks won 25-17, 25-10, 25-18.
Play By Play
The Hawks looked sharp early. QU scored the first four points to go ahead 4-0. Quincy was able to extend their lead to 9-2 after a kill by
Kaeley Mueller.
Quincy made another four point run later in the set to pull ahead 18-10. The run was capped off by another kill by
Kaeley Mueller.
QU held on to the lead and take set one 25-17.
In set two, the Hawks continued to be in the driver's seat. Quincy roared ahead 13-2 to start the frame.
Taylor McMonagle,
Stephanie Mizeur, and
Baylie Stephens all had kills in the set. QU went ahead 2-0 with a 25-10 victory.
Maryville pushed back early in the third set. The Saints went ahead 3-0. Quincy scored the next three to tie it back up at 3-3.
The score was once again tied at 7-7 when Quincy pulled away. The Hawks score ten straight points to gain a 17-7 lead. During the run,
Baylie Stephens and
Stephanie Mizeur both had two kills.
The Hawks hung on to take the third set and the game 25-18.
