QUINCY, Ill. - The Quincy University women's volleyball team was picked 11th in the GLVC 2018 preseason poll announced on Thursday (August 16). Lewis University received 11 first place votes as the conference favorite.
Lewis enters this season ranked 6th in the country according to the AVCA Preseason Poll.
The Hawks are entering their second season under the direction of head coach Abby Moser. QU finished with a record of 8-21 and 5-13 in the GLVC in 2017. The Hawks return 14 players from last year's squad including five seniors.
Top returners include
Taylor McMonagle,
Marissa Gonzalez, and
Lauren Nadler.
Taylor McMonagle recorded 205 kills and lead the team with 29 service aces last season.
Marissa Gonzalez is returning after her best year in a Hawk uniform. Gonzalez recorded 599 digs in 2017 which is tied for second most in a season in QU history.
Lauren Nadler saw action in all 28 matches last season while recording 118 kills.
Transfer senior
Lucy Grenda enters her second year as a Hawk. Grenda started in 22 matches last season and recorded 80 kills and 53 blocks.
The Hawks are set to start the season on August 24th in Magnolia, Arkansas.
