QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy University women's volleyball team ended its regular season on Saturday (Nov. 3). The Hawks fell 15-25, 18-25, and 22-25 to the University of Indianapolis.
Play by Play
Set 1
The Greyhounds took an early advantage by jumping out to a 7-1 lead. The Hawks had a couple miscommunications to give Indianapolis the early lead.
Indianapolis continued to take it to the Hawks and extended the lead to 14-2 forcing a timeout by Quincy.
The Hawks came back with seven in a row to make the score 14-9 and put QU back in reach.
The Greyhounds took back command with five straight to extend their lead to 19-9. UIndy stayed in control and won set one 25-15.
Set 2
Quincy began the second set with more urgency. Indy led just 4-3 to start off the set.
Indianapolis was able to get separation after back-to-back points later in the set made the score 12-6. Quincy called a timeout to try and stop the Greyhounds momentum.
The Hawks started to climb back into it after a three-point run brought the score to 16-12 favoring Indianapolis.
QU could not quite make the full comeback as the Greyhounds held onto the lead.
Indianapolis took the second set 25-18.
Set 3
The Greyhounds opened the third set by scoring the first four points. Quincy responded and worked a 7-7 tie later in the set.
Quincy scored the next two points to go ahead 9-7, but Indy was quick to answer back with two of their own.
Sarah Brown collected a kill to tie the game yet again. The score was now 15-15 over half way through. Indianapolis scored the next two points, and coach Abby Moser called timeout.
Indianapolis scored four in a row to put the pressure on Quincy. The score was 24-21.
The Greyhounds sealed the 25-22 win with a kill and won in straight sets.
