QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy University women's volleyball team was unable to come back from two sets down and fell to McKendree 3-1. The Bearcats won the first two sets 25-15 and 25-21. Quincy won set three 25-19 but dropped set four 25-20.
Play by play
McKendree worked from ahead to start things off. The Bearcats grew a 12-5 lead after a kill by Kelly Voss. The Hawks were unable to cut into the lead and dropped the first set.
The Hawks battled back to start set two. After ten points, both teams were scored 5-5.
QU moved ahead 13-9 after three straight points.
Taylor McMonagle collected two of those points off kills.
The Bearcats scored the next four points to bring the game back to a tie. The game was notched up again at 17-17 after a bad set on MU.
McKendree moved ahead and held on for a 25-21 win to go up two sets to none.
The Hawks fought back in the third set. QU rattled off a five point run to move in from 9-6.
Sarah Brown,
Sara Rathbun, and
Emma Lynch all had kills to give Quincy the lead.
The momentum remained in the Hawks favor as they won the set 25-19.
The fourth started off like the first. McKendree went ahead early 5-1. QU was able to cut the Bearcats' lead to 10-7 after a service error.
A five-point run by McKendree brought to score to 18-10 and Quincy was unable to recover. MU won the last set 25-20.
