QUINCY, Ill. - The Quincy University women's basketball team fell to the Drury Panthers Thursday evening (Dec. 7) 90-67.
The Hawks fell behind in the first quarter due to a slow start on the offensive end. The Panthers outscored the Hawks 22-9 in the first quarter.
The Hawks trimmed the lead to 28-20, using an 11-6 run to being the second quarter. A layup by the Panthers pushed the lead back to 10 points.
With 5:39 remaining in the quarter, Anika Webster knocked down a three-pointer to bring the score to 30-23. The three-pointer gave Webster 1,000 points in her QU career. She became the 23rd Hawks women's basketball player to score 1,000 points in their career.
The Hawks brought the lead to 31-25 with 5:10 to play in the first half.
The Panthers finished the first half on a 13-2 run and took a 44-28 lead into the half.
Drury began the second half on an 8-2 run and pushed the lead to 52-30.
The Hawks and Panthers traded scores for the remainder of the third quarter and Drury held a 73-50 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
The Hawks could bring the lead no closer than 20 and fell to the Panthers 90-67.
Anika Webster led the Hawks with 15 points, four assists, and three rebounds.
Maddie Spagnola and Jessie Rabas both added 11 points for the Hawks.
The Hawks fall to 1-6, 0-3 in the GLVC.
QU returns to action tomorrow (Dec. 8) to take on Hannibal LaGrange University at Pepsi Arena at 5:15 p.m.
