QUINCY, Ill. - The Quincy University women's volleyball team fell to the McKendree Bearcats 3-1 Saturday in the final game of the season.
The Bearcats grabbed a 5-2 lead in the first set and never relinquished the lead. The Bearcats took the opening set 25-20.
QU responded by jumping out to a 7-3 lead in the second set. QU remained in the lead for the rest of the set.
Bekah Raebel tallied six of her team-leading 20 kills in the second set. QU won the set 25-21.
The Hawks and the Bearcats battled back and forth in the third set.
With the score reading 23-22 in favor of the Hawks, QU looked to gain a 2-1 set advantage over McKendree.
A kill by McKendree and a pair of Hawks attack errors gave the Bearcats a 25-23 set win.
McKendree took the first nine points in the fourth set. The Hawks could never recover and fell to the Bearcats 25-13.
Bekah Raebel tallied 20 kills in three straight matches for the Hawks and finished the year with 367 kills.
QU finished the 2017 season 8-21, 5-13 in the GLVC.
