#12 Drury Turns Back Quincy at Pepsi Arena

QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy University women's basketball team dropped an 85-48 decision No. 12 Drury in Great Lakes Valley Conference action on Saturday (Jan. 28) afternoon at Pepsi Arena.
 
The Hawks (4-17, 1-10 GLVC) held a 6-4 lead early with all their points coming from senior guard Selina Barnes (Colorado Springs, Colo./Sierra/Southeastern CC). The Panthers followed with a 13-0 run to take command of the game as the lead never slipped back into single digits.
 
The Panthers (19-2, 11-0 GLVC), who stretched their winning streak to 11 games, held the Hawks to just 33 percent (15-for-45) shooting and forced 23 turnovers.
 
Five Drury players scored in double figures, led by 19 points from Paige Wilson.
 
Senior forward Cha Cha Williams (Bolingbrook, Ill./Seton Hill) led the Hawks with 10 points and seven rebounds. Barnes finished with nine points and freshman guard Jessica Merino (Orland Park, Ill./Carl Sandburg) hit two 3-pointers and had seven points.
 
The Panthers won the battle on the glass, 32-31, and held a 32-7 edge in points off turnovers.
 
The Hawks will continue their four-game homestand on Thursday (Feb. 2) when they welcome Saint Joseph's to Pepsi Arena. Tip-off is set for 5:15 p.m.
