With 9:20 remaining, a dunk by senior forward Evan McGaughey (Carthage, Ill./Illini West) off a swift feed by senior forward Joseph Tagarelli (Waunakee, Wis.) cut Illinois State's lead to 59-50. Over the next three minutes, though, the Redbirds went on a 12-3 run to put the game out of reach.
