Michigan Tech def. Quincy – 25-19, 25-17, 16-25, 22-25, 15-9

After dropping the first two sets to the Huskies (9-11), the Hawks came out firing in Set 3. They never trailed in the frame after jumping out to an 8-3 lead early, the last four points of that run coming on three kills by junior Bekah Raebel (Waterford, Wis./Waterford Union) and a service ace by junior Rachel Shores (Huntley, Ill.).

Shores went on another service run to stretch a 15-10 lead to 21-10. Senior Emily Lindemulder (Homer Glen, Ill./Chicago Christian) had the final kill of the set.

The Huskies led Set 4 early, scoring the first four points. They still led, 14-10, but Quincy scored the next six on the serve of junior Jessica Licurgo (Goodyear, Ariz./Sandra Day O'Connor) to take a 16-14 lead they would not give up.

The flame ran out in the final set, however, as the Huskies scored four of the first five points and QU was not able to get closer than two after that point.

Raebel led the Hawks with 11 kills (.237) while Lindemulder and sophomore Taylor McMonagle (Green Bay, Wis./Denmark) had nine kills apiece. Licurgo added seven kills. Lindemulder also had a team-high five blocks. McMonagle and Shores finished with three aces apiece.

No. 24 Ferris State def. Quincy 25-23, 22-25, 25-20, 25-22

The Hawks stayed tight with No. 24 Ferris State in the Crossover nightcap, outhitting the Bulldogs (16-5), .250 to .248. QU also finished with more points in the matchup, 74-69, and led in kills, 63-55.
