#18 Lady Hawks Host St. Louis GLVC Teams

QUINCY, Ill. - The 18th-ranked Quincy University women's basketball team hosts Maryville University on Thursday (Jan. 21, 5:15 p.m.) and the University of Missouri-St. Louis on Saturday (Jan. 23, 1 p.m.) in a pair of Great Lakes Valley Conference matchups. QU enters the weekend atop the GLVC West while UMSL and MU are tied at the fifth spot in the West Division. Both games take place in Pepsi Arena.

Five Fun Facts Quincy

- Kara Gerbus earned the GLVC Player of the Week honor after averaging 17.5 points per game leading the Quincy (15-1, 6-1 GLVC) to two wins over Southern Indiana and Bellarmine last weekend. Gerbus converted 11-of-11 free throws including seven in the final five minutes against Bellarmine that gave QU a commanding lead late. The senior forward shot 58% from the field over the weekend.

- The Lady Hawks have extended their winning streak to seven games, but that streak pales in comparison to their home winning streak. QU has not lost a game in Pepsi Arena since Feb. 14, 2014 in a regular season matchup against Saint Joseph's. QU has won 13 straight and are 10-0 at home this season.

- Quincy has relied on big play from their forwards in GLVC play. In seven games, Anika Webster has averaged 11.7 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. Erin Mennemeyer has scored 9.4 points per game and gathered 4.1 boards. Kara Gerbus has chipped in 10.7 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. 

- QU has found success behind the arc this season shooting 42% ranking first in the GLVC and second in NCAA DII. Megan Wienstroer ranks first in the GLVC hitting 54.8% from  three. Nikia Edom ranks third in the GLVC knocking down 50%. Edom hits 1.88 triples per game ranking ninth in the GLVC. 

- QU has hit 77-of-99 free throws in the final five minutes this season. Maggie Cunningham leads the team missing just three free throws (36-of-39) from the line in crunch time. The Lady Hawks rank fourth in the GLVC and 32nd in NCAA Division II shooting 75.3% from the line this season. Carly Beebe (89.2%) and Maggie Cunningham (88%) are second and third respectively in the GLVC from the the foul line this season.

Five Fun Facts Maryville
- Alex Hillyer leads the Saints (8-6, 2-5 GLVC) with 15.6 points per game. Hillyer is also tied for the team-lead in rebounding with 8.1 boards per game.

- Alex Wolf is tied for the team-lead in rebounding with Hillyer averaging 8.1 rebounds per game. Wolf also averages 9.9 points per game.

- Ali Ringering and Stephanie Sherwood are the three-point threats for Maryville. Ringering averages 12.2 points per game and has 20 threes this season. Sherwood scores 10.1 points per game and has hit 22 triples. MU is hitting 30% from three.

- The Saints are 4-2 on the road this season, but are 2-2 in the GLVC on the road and have lost their last three games.

- Maryville has outscored opponents by 6.2 points per game in the first half, but opponents have outscored the Saints by 2.4 points per game in the final two quarters of play.

Five Fun Facts Missouri-St. Louis
- Missouri-St. Louis (7-8, 2-5 GLVC) has wins against Maryville and UW-Parkside in conference play, but has also defeated Truman State (61-60) in a nonconference matchup that went to double overtime in St. Louis, Mo.

- UMSL averages 63.3 points per game while shooting 40% from the floor and 29% from three. Kelly Kunkel leads the team scoring 12.3 points per game with 20 triples.

- Amber Daly has come on late for the Tritons starting the last four conference games. Against UW-Parkside she had nine points, seven assists, and six rebounds.

- Robneisha Lee has made 48 free throws averaging 9.1 points per game for the Tritons. Lee also averages 4.3 rebounds per game.

- The Tritons are 2-4 on the road this season and 0-2 on the road in GLVC play. UMSL had losses to Saint Joseph's and Indianapolis during the first weekend of GLVC play in 2016.
