Hawks to Host Great River Honor Flight Military Appreciation Day

QUINCY, Ill. - Military Appreciation Day will take place this Saturday (Oct. 24) at QU Stadium during the Quincy University football team's fourth home game of the season. QU will play host the Ohio Dominican University with kick-off scheduled for 1 p.m. The Hawks will also be collecting donations for the Great River Honor Flight.

The Hawks are welcoming all current and former military personnel to the stadium with free admission to the game. Throughout the game there will be donation tables set up for Great River Honor Flight. Proceeds from the 50/50 raffle will also be donated to Great River Honor Flight.

The American Legion will provide a color guard for the National Anthem prior to the kick-off. QU will be honoring veterans who have past away with a moment of silence prior to the game.

At halftime QU will recognize the military members present at the game.

Great River Honor Flight is a non-profit organization.  Their goal is to transport our heroes to Washington, D.C., so they may visit and reflect on their memorials.  Top priority is given to senior veterans - WWII survivors, along with veterans who may be terminally ill.  It is funded entirely by contributions.  All donations to their federal, nonprofit, 501(c)3 organization are tax deductible.

The Hawks are 2-1 in their newly renovated stadium on 20th and Sycamore this season.
