INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) announced its inaugural Women's Wrestling Preseason Coaches' Poll on Thursday, with the Quincy University Hawks selected third after earning 23 points.
The Hawks, under the direction of head coach Jeff Haley, enter their fourth season of competition with momentum and rising expectations. Quincy was also ranked 15th in the NWCA Preseason Poll, marking the first time in program history that the Hawks have earned a national ranking.
The Hawks return a strong core led by Trinity Pendergrass, who became the program's first All-American last season at 110 lbs. Quincy also brings back Maddy Barton, Sophia Sosa, Alexa Valdez, and Mackenzie Graves, who each qualified for nationals last year. Alongside that veteran group, the Hawks welcome eight freshmen to the squad, adding new depth and energy to the roster.
In the GLVC preseason poll, McKendree was chosen as the league favorite after finishing third at the NCWWC Championships last season. The Bearcats also enter 2025-26 ranked No. 2 nationally in the NWCA Preseason Poll. Grand Valley State followed in second after its fourth-place finish at nationals in 2025, and the Lakers open this season ranked No. 4 nationally. Quincy rounded out the top three ahead of William Jewell, Northern Michigan, Upper Iowa, and Davenport.
The Hawks will showcase their roster for the first time on Thursday, October 23, with an intrasquad meet inside Pepsi Arena at 6:00 PM. They then open official competition at the Luther Hill Open on Saturday, November 1, in Indianola, Iowa.
