#16 Indianapolis Advances With Win Over Quincy

QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy University men's tennis lost to No. 16 Indianapolis, 5-0, on Saturday (April 22) in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament quarterfinal at the Lake Forest Tennis Club in Chesterfield, Mo.
 
The defeat ended the season for the Hawks (3-14), who were playing as the West Division's No. 4 seed. It was QU's third straight conference tournament appearance. UIndy was the East's No. 1 seed.
 
The Hawks dropped all three doubles matches Saturday night. The closest match came at the top spot as senior Erik Eldagsen (Santa Coloma de Cervello, Spain/IPSE/East Central) and junior Collin Adams (Quincy, Ill.) nearly knocked off 17th-ranked Arklon Huertas Del Pino and Morlet Andrea, but ultimately fell, 8-6.
 
Junior Michael Lesko (Columbia, Ill./Gibault Catholic) and Ryan McMillan (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove South) lost at No. 3 doubles to Nils Hoffacker and Marco Razo, 8-3. At No. 2 doubles, junior Wyatt Pauley (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech) and sophomore Danyil Vayser (Round Lake, Ill./Gymnasium "Konsul" #86) fell to Christoph Drechsler and Magnus Mueller, 8-1.
 
In No. 1 singles play, Eldagsen lost to Huertas Del Pino (ranked 21st nationally) by scores of 6-0, 6-1. Vayser lost at No. 2 singles in straight sets to Hoffacker, 6-0, 6-0.
 
Indianapolis will now play Rockhurst in the tournament semifinals on Sunday.
