Tagarelli Named To D2CCA All-Midwest Region First Team

QUINCY, Ill. – Quincy University senior forward Joseph Tagarelli (Waunakee, Wis.) was named to the Division II Conference Commissioners' Association All-Midwest Region first team on Monday (March 13).

Tagarelli is the first QU player since Justin Brock in 2011-12 to earn all-region status.

The 6-foot-5 forward broke the school's single-season scoring record with 632 points as he helped the Hawks (25-7) reach the second round of the NCAA Tournament in their first trip to the national postseason since 2010.

Tagarelli averaged 19.8 points and 8.2 rebounds per game while shooting 56 percent (236-for-422) from the floor. He led the Great Lakes Valley Conference in scoring and ranked third in the conference in rebounding.

The fifth-year senior recorded nine double-doubles and scored in double figures in 30 of 32 games this season. He scored 30-plus points on four occasions, including a season-high 34 points in an 89-82 win over Indianapolis on Feb. 4. Tagarelli was an All-GLVC first team selection and was named the GLVC Player of the Week four times, joining Southern Indiana's Jeril Taylor as the only players since 2005-06 to accomplish that feat.

Tagarelli is now eligible for the D2CCA All-America ballot.
